February Membership Drive
Feb 09, 2010 at 11:01 AM

On behalf of the San Ramon Valley Islamic Center (SRVIC) Board of Directors, we would like to thank you for your continued support of the Center. As most of you are aware, Alhamdulillah, we just purchased another building adjacent to the existing center and will be re-modeling to accommodate the growing Jumma Prayer, Sunday Islamic School, Adult Education Classes and numerous other activities that you can participate in at SRVIC. With the purchase of the new facility, our monthly expenses have increased by $9,000 a month. We need to increase our paying membership by 100 families to sustain the ongoing operation of the Center and to meet our financial commitments for the expansion.

SRVIC depends on the generous contributions of the community and individuals like you. We need the help of the entire community to achieve this goal. We will have several events during February to drive membership including sign up at Jumma Prayer, and Family Night, mailings to potential members, and calling campaign.

If you are a current member, Jazak Allah Khair, for your financial support. We encourage you to maintain your membership for 2010, contribute $50 a month and sign up for credit card or automatic payments.

If you are not a current member, we want to invite you to consider becoming a member of SRVIC and enjoy the many benefits of membership including:

  • Notification and priority access to events including Eid Celebration, Ramadan Iftaars, Senior Nights, Family Night, Adult Education, Youth Halaqa, Community Events
  • Discounted member pricing for specific events and education
  • Access to Sunday School Youth Education, Enrichment Programs and Quran Classes
  • Tax deduction for membership dues
  • Participation in SRVIC Board Elections (voting rights)

Becoming a member is easy. Families are encouraged to contribute $50 per month. There are several ways you can contribute monthly, annually or one-time.

  1. Fill out the membership form downloadable from our website www.SRVIC.Org
  2. Sign up for automatic monthly credit card payment on our website (home page under donation): www.srvic.org
  3. Sign for automatic withdrawal from your bank account. We can provide you the necessary account information to set this up.
  4. Mail check for one-time or monthly payment to SRVIC, PO Box 372, San Ramon, CA 94583

We encourage you to choose options 2 and 3 for payment …it’s easier for you, keep our costs down and improve membership record keeping. We are also working to streamline our membership database, which will enable you to check membership status online.

We pray that Allah (SWT) continue to shower His Blessings on this community and rewards all those who contribute.

“For those who give in charity, men and women, and loan to Allah a Beautiful Loan, it shall be increased manifold (to their credit), and they shall have (besides) a liberal reward.” (Quran 57:18)

Jumma Timing Change for Canyon View Hall
Feb 03, 2010 at 10:46 AM

Effective this Friday, we are changing the timings of Jumma prayers at Canyon View Hall. The new timings for Jumma at Canyon View Hall will be as follows:

1:00pm    Khutbah Begins
1:20pm    Salat

The Jumma prayers at the Masjid (2232 Camino Ramon) will remain unchanged (1:30 Khutbah, 1:55 Salat). Please note, that due to this change, those who arrive late at the Masjid risk missing their Jumma if the Masjid is already at capacity as Canyon View Jumma will already have been completed. Please plan accordingly so that you ensure you catch one of the Jumma prayers.

Canyon View Hall has plenty of capacity and the earlier time may make it easier for those who need to make it back to work during a "normal" lunch hour.

Please note that these timings will remain in effect until further notice.
