Prayers for the Orlando Shooting Victims

The SRVIC Board of Trustees and Board of Directors join with other mosques and interfaith communities across the country in offering their prayers for all those killed and injured in the Orlando shooting. We strongly condemn the heinous attack that took the lives of 50 innocent individuals early this morning. Our heartfelt condolences and prayers are with the victims, their families, and loved ones. The SRVIC community joins fellow Americans in repudiating anyone or any group that would claim to justify or excuse such an egregious act of violence, whether in the name of religion or otherwise.

SRVIC Condemns San Bernardino Violence

SRVIC offers its sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims in the tragedies in San Bernardino and pray for quick recovery for those injured. SRVIC denounces this and every act of violence. These heinous act can never be justified under any circumstances. SRVIC also wants to send sincere appreciation for all those responders who are assisting the affected community.

SRVIC is also grateful to our own San Ramon City Leadership and Police Department who are always offering assistance to our Muslim community.

Denouncement of Violence

San Ramon Valley Islamic Center (SRVIC) strongly, publicly, and unequivocally denounces the senseless acts of violence being committed in the name of Islam, particularly by foreign extremist groups such as ISIS and Boko Haram.

We are horrified at the loss of life and property, the destruction of sacred sites including churches and mosques, the forced conversion of religious minorities, the disruption of the lives of Muslims and others, in addition to the ascription of these groups’ criminal and grotesque enterprises to Islam. This behavior has no place whatsoever in Islamic theology or practice.

Muslims see these acts as the antithesis of every ideal and belief taught by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and upon all Prophets and Messengers). Indeed, these and other repugnant acts contradict the basic principles of justice, compassion, and tolerance enshrined in the Quran, the Islamic Holy Scripture.

We, SRVIC, therefore unite to state the following:

  • We offer our sincere condolences and sympathies to the families of those victimized by ISIS and others of its ilk. We stand with you.
  • We stand for justice, we stand for peace, and we will continue to stand for the sanctity of life.
  • We also welcome our neighbors of every faith tradition to learn about true Islam by contacting us at info@srvic.org.

As God enjoins in the Quran, “Help one another in furthering virtue and God consciousness, and do not help one another in furthering evil and enmity…”
