As mentioned in an email and on this website yesterday, we are changing the location and timing of the second Jumma effective this Friday, June 26th. We will still offer one Jumma at the Masjid itself, but the second Jumma will now be held at Canyon View Dining Hall in San Ramon (680 Bollinger Canyon Way).
The timings of the two prayers will be as follows:
1st Jumma at SRVIC:
1:30pm - Khutbah Begins
1:50pm - Salat
2nd Jumma at Canyon View:
1:45pm - Khutbah Begins
2:05pm - Salat
We will be strictly monitoring capacity (Brothers' and Sisters' Sides) at the Masjid (1st Jumma) and will direct everyone to Canyon View once we hit capacity limits. We actually request that members of the community who have flexibility just proceed directly to Canyon View so that we can distribute the people between the two venues.
We will continue to provide updates on the capacity of the 1st Jumma via Twitter (www.twitter.com/srvic). If you have a mobile device with a data plan, we encourage you to sign up for our Twitter Alerts. We typically send alerts when the Masjid is 1/2 full, 3/4 full, etc.
Please do let others in the community know so that the word gets out to as many as possible.

As you know, we have been struggling with capacity issues at Jumma in San Ramon for several months now. To try and accommodate the crowds, we have been offering two Jumma prayers. While this arrangement has helped us ensure that we do not exceed the posted capacity limits in the Masjid, unfortunately, it has not relieved the congestion in the parking lot, nor the inconvenience to our neighbors. It has also had the negative effect that many attendees waiting for the second Jumma wait outside the Masjid and draw additional attention of our neighbors who see large crowds around their offices.
To remedy this situation, the San Ramon Valley Islamic Center is making a very significant change to the Jumma schedule and arrangements effective this Friday, June 26th. This change is necessary to not only meet the growing needs of the community but to also ensure that our permit is not jeopardized.
Effective, immediately, we will only offer one Jumma prayer at the center. We will not be offering a second Jumma prayer at the San Ramon Valley Islamic Center. Instead, we will now offer a second Jumma at Canyon View Dining Hall (680 Bollinger Canyon Way, San Ramon). Canyon View Dining Hall is about a 5 minute drive from the Masjid.
As usual, once Jumma at the Masjid reaches capacity, the doors will be shut as we have been doing and attendees will be directed to Canyon View Dining Hall. In fact, we would encourage people who have flexibility to just go directly to Canyon View Dining Hall so we can distribute the load.
We are still working out the timing logistics and will update everyone via email and on our website ( www.srvic.org) as soon as possible. Please do help pass on the word to the community that there is a significant change in Jumma in San Ramon and everyone is advised to continue checking the website for the latest information.
May Allah(ST) shower His blessings on this community and help expand this center's ability to accommodate the growing community.

SRVIC to hold Fundraiser for Swat Valley Victims on Sunday June 28th |

We are all watching the sad plight of our displaced brothers,sisters, elders and children in the Swat valley. They are living under harsh conditions and have lost most of their worldly possessions. It is our moral obligation to help these refugees residing in these camps under strenuous conditions. It could have been one of us. Allah has blessed us with numerous opportunities and we should not forget our fellow human beings in this time of need.
The SRVIC community has always come forward and risen to the occasion we had a successful fund raiser for the earthquake victims of Kashmir and InshaAllah we will do it again. Our community has always donated generously for the just cause and InshaAllah we will volunteer our time, money and energy to help out our brothers and sisters in Islam.
SRVIC is arranging a fund raiser on Sunday June 28th 6:30pm to 8:30pm at San Ramon Valley community Center on 12501 Alcosta Blvd. San Ramon, Ca 94583.
